Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-dilutable resin which is suitable to use as a pigment paste resin. SOLUTION: This resin is obtained by the reaction of 30-90 wt.% of at least one acid functional polymer(s) selected from the group comprising polyester, dimer and oligomer of unsaturated aliphatic carboxylic acid, and olefin unsaturated monomer each having an acid value of 30-240 mg/g (component A) with 10-70 wt.% of at least one water-insoluble aldehyde or ketone resin(s) obtained by the condensation of a ketone with urea, a ketone and an aldehyde with urea, or an aldehyde with urea each having a hydroxyl value of 20-300 mg/g, a softening point of 60-140 deg.C, and a number average molecular weight of 500-3,000 g/mol. This resin is water-dilutable after neutralization and has an acid value of 25-160 mg/g.
