Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water supply material for plants capable of improving the appearance, handleability, operating efficiency and storage controllability without changing properties unique to soil by forming one surface of a bag enclosing water absorbing fibers out of a water-impermeable material and the other surface out of a water-permeable material. SOLUTION: This water supply material 1 for plants is obtained by forming one surface of a bag enclosing water absorbing fibers 6 having =50 mL/g saturation water absorption volume and absorbing >=90% of the saturation water absorption volume when immersed in water for 10 min such as an acrylic salt copolymer from a water-impermeable material 2 such as a polyethylene film and the other surface thereof from a water-permeable material 3 such as natural fibers. Furthermore, the water supply material 1 for plants is preferably used in a state thereof absorbing water by bringing the surface of the water-permeable material 3 into contact with wetted soil for cultivating the plants and holding the surface of the water permeable material 3 in the state.
