Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the magnetic resistance(MR) head in which recording gap deformation is reduced and the bends in recording bit boundaries are prevented. SOLUTION: A central active region section 20 is provided between top and bottom shield magnetic layers 32 and 33 which are made of ferromagnetic bodies. The section 20 is made of MR element layers 23 having prescribed lengths and widths through insulating layers 30 and 31. Passive region sections 24 and 27 are provided on the both sides of the section 20. The sections 24 and 27 consists of longitudinal bias layers 25 and 28 and electrode layers 26 and 29. The layer 33 is formed in a mountain shape by the both sides of tilted skirt sections 33b and 33c and the top section of a flat central section 33a. The section 20 is arranged on the section 33a. Active region sections 24 and 27 are provided on the sections 33b and 33c to bury and to make flat the tilted sections. Thus, the layers 31 and 32 are made flat and a gap 36 is provided on the layer 32 in a flat manner. |
