Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical system for a liquid crystal projector where the luminance of video light is improved due to the maximization of light efficiency by minimizing light loss caused from the optical system and focusing the maximum light on a scrambler by a light focusing means. SOLUTION: This optical system includes the scrambler 20 for mixing light emitted from a light source 10 to the uniform light, a relay lens unit 30 for making the light transmitted through the scrambler parallel beams, and the light focusing means 200 installed on the light incident side of the scrambler 20 and consisting of a funnel-shaped member 210 having a reflection surface which focuses the light emitted from the light source and reflects it to the light incident surface of the scrambler 20.
