METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CORRECTING CHARACTER RECOGNITION RESULT AND RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character recognition result correcting device capable of accurately correcting a place name word including 'AZA' (section of village, 'OAZA' (larger section of village) or the like while suppressing the increment of dictionary size. SOLUTION: Characters such as 'AZA' and 'OAZA' allowed to be added without practically changing the meaning of each word are set up as a redundant word and defined in a redundant word storing part 12. A recognition candidate character setting part 10 applies character recognition to a character string image and a character judging part 11 judges whether a redundant word is included in a recognized result or not. When a redundant word is included, a shifted position setting part 13 adds a new character string obtained by deleting the redundant word as a recognition candidate character string to be compared/collated with recognition words in a word dictionary 15. When the recognition word concerned exists, a DP matching part 142 inserts the redundant word into an optimum position and outputs the inserted result as a corrected result.
