Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as a base material for producing a fluoride compound used as an active element in a pharmaceutical and agrochemical fields and dye industry. SOLUTION: This compound is 3-chloro-4-fluorobenzoyl chloride shown by formula I. A compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting 4-fluorobenzoyl chloride of formula II, if necessary, through a refining treatment by e.g. distillation, to chlorinating reaction in the presence of Lewis acid e.g. AlCl3 , ZnCl2 , FeCl3 , at 60 to 130 deg.C, pref., at 80 to 110 deg.C, in the presence of an gaseous chlorine (pref. of an excessive amount). The conversion of up to 40 to 90%, pref., 60 to 90% is conducted for 8 to 16 hrs.
