Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the occurrence frequency of non-feed jamming and double feed at a separation part and to reduce the occurrence of fouling of a document. SOLUTION: A recessed part 5a is formed in the surface of a paper feed belt 5 and a document automatic conveying device consists of an elastic member 19, a separation roller 9, and a core 18. The elastic member 19 forms a protrusion part corresponding to the recessed part 5a of a paper feed belt 5. The document is nipped between the recessed part 5a and the elastic member 19 and separated and fed. μ1, μ2, and μ4 are respectively fairly higher than μ2, sand a relation of (μ1>μ2, μ3|μ2, and μ1|μ2) is established among a friction factor μ 1 during contact between the core 18 of the separation roller 9 and the paper feed belt 5, a friction factor μ2 between the core 18 and the document, a friction factor μ3 between the paper feed belt and a document, and a friction factor μ4 between the elastic member 19 and a document.
