VOLUME REDUCTION TREATMENT OF JELLYFISH AND VOLUME REDUCTION TREATMENT APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the amt. of the malodors to be generated prior to discarding of jellyfishes as far as possible and to efficiently reduce the volume of jellyfishes by a relatively simple method in such a manner that a transporting quantity may be decreased and a land for reclamation may be reduced. SOLUTION: The volume reduction treatment method of bringing the captured jellyfishes into contact with hot water of 70 to 80 deg.C by immersion, etc., prior to discarding the jellyfishes is provided. The volume reduction treatment for the jellyfishes is constituted as the apparatus applicable to the treatment method by providing the apparatus with a water tank 2 for housing the hot water W heated by a heater 1, forming the transporting surface of a conveyor, such as net conveyor 3, for transporting the captured jellyfishes A of a water permeable blank allowing the free putting in and out of the hot water, arranging the transporting surface 4 so as to pass the inside of the hot water W within the water tank 2, providing the inner side of the water tank 2 with guide rollers 5 for guiding the transporting surface 4 under the hot water surface and discharging the drained jellyfishes after passage through the hot water from the upper transporting surface from the hot water surface.
