Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical fiber having a Young's modulus in a satisfactory range through simplified process by setting the temperature of the optical fiber to the value (T) deciding the polymerization temperature (T') of the coating material before a polymerizable coating material is coated on the surface of the optical fibers. SOLUTION: The optical fiber 1 is coated with the first polymerizable coating material for the primary coating such as an ultraviolet photosensitive polymer resin in the first coating machine 13. The first coating material is polymerized in the first polymerization enclosure 15 whereby the base body 2 is formed. The base body is heated up to the temperature (T) that decides the polymerization temperature (T') of the second material for the secondary coating and the temperature (T) is measured with the temperature sensor 16. The base body at the temperature (T) is coated with the second coating material in the second coating machine 17. The second material heated to the temperature T' on the optical fiber is polymerized in the second polymerization enclosure equipped with halogen lamps.
