DOCUMENT RETRIEVAL SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable text-voice conversion suitable to a document retrieval system making good use of a network by providing a server terminal with a voice converting means. SOLUTION: When the address of information which desires to be retrieved and displayed is inputted by using a display input means 11, the input address is sent to a document retrieval means 2, a program and a button for voice reproduction which are stored in a voice load program storage means 7 are embedded in a document obtained by retrieval, and data on them are outputted to a client terminal having sent the retrieval request out. When there is not the voice data corresponding to the retrieved address in a voice storage means 3, a sentence dividing means 6 divides the text data into sentences, a voice converting means 4 converts them into voice data, and the voice storage means 3 stores them in a directory. When the mouse cursor is clicked on the voice reproduction button on the display screen of the client terminal, the reproducing program is started and corresponding voice data are downloaded from a voice conversion server 10 and reproduced as a voice.
