Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress reduction of the service life of a furnace caused by severe operating condition and reduction of the spalling resistance caused by the intermittent use by combining the magnesia-chromium refractory with the carbon- containing refractory to construct the zebra structure. SOLUTION: The lining of a furnace is of zebra structure where the magnesia-chromium brick 1 and the carbon-containing refractory 2 are lined in a checked pattern. Alternatively, the magnesia-chromium brick and the carbon-containing refractory are lined in the circumferential direction in a strip pattern to provide the zebra structure. Or, the magnesia-chromium brick and the carbon-containing refractory are lined with several compartment unit to provide the zebra structure. Further or, the magnesia-chromium brick and the carbon-containing refractory have long size, and they are lined in the circumferential direction in a strip pattern to provide the zebra structure. Because the heat conductivity of the carbon-containing refractory 2 is excellent, the temperature in the magnesia-chromium brick 1 is relatively dropped, and the slag is immediately hardened. The slag infiltration is suppressed, and the structural spalling damage can be reduced.
