THIN-FILM MAGNETIC HEAD AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-film magnetic head with which the easy reduction of the thickness of terminal parts is possible and to provide a process for producing the thin-film magnetic head which is simplified in the production process. SOLUTION: This thin-film magnetic head has a thin-film element, the terminal 27 which is embedded in a nonmagnetic material, is exposed its one end face outside and is electrically connected at the other end face to the thin-film element, a barrier layer 28 which is formed on the one end face exposed outside of the terminal 27 and contains Cr, a power feed layer 29 which is formed on the barrier layer 28 and consists of a noble metal and an Au film 30 which is formed on the power feed layer 29 and contains Au. A current is supplied through the terminal 27 to the thin-film element described above.
