Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the meshing part of a speed reduction gear mechanism between a motor and a roll curtain from being damaged as a result of inertial rotation of the motor if the curtain is manually operated and stopped near an open or closed position, when the motor is directly coupled to the curtain without use of an electromagnetic clutch and the curtain is opened and closed as it is driven by the motor. SOLUTION: When a curtain has been moved near an open or closed position, limit switches 31, 32 for stopping a motor 19 by cutting off the power circuit 25 of the motor 19 are switched from one to the other, a short circuit is caused between both terminals of the motor 19 by short circuits 38, 39, and a current produced by the rotating motor 19 is passed through the short circuits 38, 39 so that the rotation of the motor 19 itself is braked by the current produced.
