Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor for a rotating electric machine for easily obtaining a motor having high torque and high efficiency, by simply and effectively forming a squirrel-cage winding even by using copper for the winding, thereby sufficiently suppressing secondary resistance loss. SOLUTION: A slot 5c for containing a squirrel-cage winding of a rotor core 5a formed of a laminate of a rotor iron plates 5b is formed in an overall opening shape. A conductor bar 7a is inserted from an outer peripheral side as shown by an arrow, and pressed by a punch 11 as shown by an arrow. Then, an electrode 12 is brought into contact with an opening end corner 55 of the slot 5c. Current is supplied between the electrode 12 and the core 5a to be heated, and the corner 55 is softened. Then, it is pressed as shown by an arrow. Thus, a tongue piece 56 for forming a half opened slot is formed to provide the rotor.
