Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily structure an already existing document as image information. SOLUTION: A document in which the same symbol is marked on two related pages and which is composed of a plurality of pages is read as image information and the symbol and the positions of the symbol are recognized. Then a link table linking the symbol, positions of the symbol, and succeeding pages marked with the same symbol is prepared and a structured document is prepared in a structure describing language so that the succeeding linked pages can be accessed when the symbol on the preceding page is indicated by using the link table.
