Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high brightness discharge lamp which operates stably with a high current density. SOLUTION: Electrodes 4a and 4b are installed at the internal ends of a tube, and they are formed of composite ceramics consisting of composite oxides whose metal components are (a) alkaline earth metal, (b) at least one of Zr and Ti, and (c) at least one of V, Nb, Ta, Sc, Y, La, Dy, Ho, Hf, Cr, Mo, and W, besides part of the electrodes 4a and 4b is granulated powder molding of the mentioned composite ceramics, and another part is carbide of the mentioned metal components, and the granulated powder molding operates while a high temp. part is formed locally by electric discharge.
