Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make display of high image quality free from color irregularity by eliminating the disturbance of electric field pattern. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device includes >=2 kinds of color filters which are formed on one of substrates 1, 1', black masks interposed between the respective color filters, electrode groups 2, 11 which are formed on the other substrates, orientation control films 20, 20' which orient the molecule arrangement of liquid crystal molecules 21 held between the substrates in a prescribed direction, polarizing means 13, 13' which are laminated on the substrates and driving means which impress driving voltages on the electrode groups. The liquid crystal display device has an electrode array structure which forms mainly parallel electric fields on the boundaries between the orientation control films and the liquid crystal layer. The specific resistance value of liquid crystal compsn. material is set to >=10NΩ.cm and the spectacle resistance value of the black mask to >=10MΩ.cm (N and M are integers), and M and N satisfy the relation of N>13, M>7.
