Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a yellow colorant compound having heat resistance, showing a desirable behavior, good durability, easiness of synthesis, excellent suitability for forming ink and good hue and suited for thermal recording by using a styryl colorant compound having a specified structure. SOLUTION: N,N-diisobutyl-m-toluidine is formylated by the Vilsmeier reaction into 3-metyl-4-formyl-N-N-diisobutylaniline. This aldehyde is condensed with malononitrile through dehydration in the presence of a basic catalyst in an inert solvent to obtain a styryl colorant compound having a structure represented by the formula. This colorant together with a binder is dissolved or finely dispersed in a medium to prepare an ink. This ink is applied to a support and dried to prepare a transfer sheet.
