Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the seal effect and to surely prevent the invasion of open air into a furnace by reducing a gap between one pair of seal rolls respectively at the upper and the lower parts as small as possible. SOLUTION: This seal device comprises a roll seal device 4 composed of the driving type upper side seal roll 7A held so as to be elevatable/lowerable through an elastic mechanism (spring) 10 at the tip part of a throat part 3 arranged at the opening hole part 1a of a horizontal type metallic strip continuous annealing furnace 1 and the driving type lower side seal roll 7B fixedly held, a gas seal device 14 arranged at the opening hole part side of the throat part, an electric heating type indirect ignition device 16 arranged between the gas seal device 14 and the roll seal device 4, and a shut-off device 17 provided with one pair of shut-off members 19A, 19B respectively at the upper and the lower parts so as to be elevatable/lowerably arranged between the electric heating type indirect ignition device 16 and the roll seal device 4.
