Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new protein capable of efficiently bonding epithelial cell to a culturing vessel and proliferating the cell and useful for substrate, etc., for culture by extracting a bacterial cell surface protein from a bacterium belonging to the genus Lactobacillus by using a surfactant, etc. SOLUTION: This new protein is derived from a bacterium belonging to the genus Lactobacillus and has cell adhesion activity and is capable of bonding a cell, especially an epithelial cell to a culturing vessel and proliferating the cell and is useful as a substrate for culture. The protein is obtained by extracting a bacterial cell surface protein from Lactobacillus acidophilus SBT 2062 strain (FERM P 10730), Lactobacillus gasseri SBT 2055 (FERM P 15535), Lactobacillus crispatus JCM 5808, Lactobacillus johnsonii SBT (FERM P-15534), etc., by using an alkali metal salt or a surfactant.
