Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an accurate positioning of a web regarding the front edge of a machine by a method wherein a walk of the web is detected by a pair of optical sensors, and the roll position is corrected by the rotating direction of a stepper motor. SOLUTION: The roll 12 of a foil stock is loaded on a movable carriage 256 which can laterally move regarding the central line of the machine. A stepper motor 240 which is connected to a screw shaft, is engaged with the carriage 256, and moves the roll 12 to the right or left of the central line. A pair of optical sensors 210L and 210R locate on the left and right edges of a foil web 11 which enters the front edge of a packaging machine, and when the web 11 'walk' a long distance to the right side or left side, the right side or left side optical sensor 210R, 210L transmits a signal to a logical controller, and moves the carriage 256 to the left or right. The controller controls the transmitted voltage, and rotates the motor 240 clockwise or counterclockwise depending on a right or left mis-alignment condition.
