Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical element which is excellent in its sealing property and high in its reliability even when used in an environment of high temperature and high humidity. SOLUTION: The element includes an element unit 11 having an electrolytic solution, a pair of electrodes and a separator impregnated in the solution, a bottomed cylindrical metal case 13 for accommodating the element unit 11, and an elastic sealing material 14 for sealing an opening of the metal case 13. The elastic sealing material 14 is made of, as its main component, butyl rubber obtained by adding 0.5-100 parts of softener to butyl rubber polymer and curing it with peroxide or resin.
