Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformize the flow speed of a molten steel and to prevent overflow of inclusions by providing a pair of refractory plate-shaped transverse gates which are narrower than an inner side of a tundish and higher than the molten steel level in the regular operation at the prescribed position of the tundish. SOLUTION: A pair of transverse gates 6a, 6b are provided between the molten steel pouring position 2 and the molten steel discharging position 4 of a tundish 1 in contact with a bottom surface on the inner side of the tundish 1 so as to be opposite to side walls 1a, 1b of the tundish 1. The molten steel poured from a molten steel pouring nozzle 2 into the tundish 1 forms short pass flows 7a, 7b along the side walls 1a, 1b. The short pass flows 7a, 7b collide with the transfer gates 6a, 6b and diffused to be a uniform flow 8. The staying time of the molten steel from the transverse gates 6a, 6b to a dipping nozzle 4 is increased to improve the floating characteristic of inclusions. It is preferable to satisfy the relationship of a/W=0.05-0.4 and D/(d+W2)=1-3.3, where, (a) is the total width of the transverse gate, W is the width of the inner side of the tundish, D is the distance between the transverse gate and the molten steel pouring position, and (d) is the molten steel level in the stable operation. |
