Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To contain a stern seal in a position above a water surface by a method wherein upward contraction is performed with especially a stern seal being mounted on a hull. SOLUTION: A rope 5 by which an elastic stern seal 3 mounted on a hull 1 is lifted to a position above from a water surface W for containing is provided. The base end side part of the rope 5 is wound around a winch 7 on a ship and a tip side part is mounted on the stern seal 3. By winding the rope 5 by the winch 7, the lower end of the stern seal 3 is contained in a position above the water surface W and adhesion of ocean organisms is prevented.
