POSITION DETECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detector with a wide measuring range. SOLUTION: This detector is provided with a long main body 4 and a slider 6 slidable along the lengthwise direction thereof, and it is further provided with a length meter 8 for detecting a length K between a specified reference position F and a position P of the slider 6, a tilt meter 10 for detecting a tilt angle of the meter 8 with respect to the vertical direction, and first and second fixing bases 12 and 14 which are fixed respectively to two measuring points of an object to be measured. The slider 6 and first fixing base 12 are coupled with each other through a first supporting shaft 16 and a fixing shaft 18, and the body 4 and fixing base 14 are coupled with each other through a second supporting shaft 20 and a fixing shaft 22. Since the output of the meters 8 and 10 is designed to change according to the relative positional change between two points where the first and second fixing bases 12 and 14 are fitted, the relative positional change therebetween can be detected three-dimensionally according to such an output.
