Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel subject compound which has excellent microbicidal and insecticidal effects and is useful as an agent for controlling pests in agricultural and horticultural purposes by the reaction of a chlorinated phosphorus derivative with 2-hydroxy-benzyl alcohol followed by reaction of the product with a hydroxy compound. SOLUTION: This novel compound is novel 1,3,2-benzoxaphosphopholine derivative represented by formula I (R and R are each H, a 1-4C alkyl; R is a 1-4C alkyl, 2-methyl-5-isopropylphenyl, 3-methyl-6-isopropylphenyl, 2- phenylehtyl; X is O, S) and has excellent microbicidal and insecticidal effects and is useful as a microbicidal and insecticidal agent for agricultural and horticultural purposes. The novel compound is prepared by reaction of a chlorinated phosphorus derivative represented by formula II with 2-hydroxybenzyl alcohol represented by formula III to form 2-chloro-1,3,2-benzodioxaphospholine derivative of formula IV, followed by reaction of the phospholine derivative with an alcohol or phenol represented by the formula: R -OH.
