Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the absolute position of a tape and to perform quick program searching by recording serial numbers on a tape surface, for example at specified intervals, in a magnetic tape beforehand. SOLUTION: In a tape cassette 1, counter values, for example from 00001 to 99999, are printed on the surface of a magnetic tape 2. When this tape cassette 1 is set in a tape deck device 3, the magnetic tape 2 is stuck to a magnetic head 4. At this time, a reading section is brought close to the magnetic tape 2 and, during the traveling of the magnetic tape 2 wound on the magnetic head 4, the printed counter values are read in the order of 00001, 00002 and 00003. The tape deck device 3 displays the counter value 00003 read last on a display section 6.
