GAS SENSOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make possible simplification of manufacturing and assembling by providing a sleeve integrally provided with a male screw top a step part provided with a seal collar of an inside protection sleeve surrounding an area on an exhaust gas side of a sensor element toward an inner chamber. SOLUTION: A gas sensor 1 is provided with a sensor element 2 and a circular support ceramic 3 surrounding that element. A metal sleeve 4 is provided with a step part 5 facing the sensor element 2 around the full circumference thereof, and a seal collar 6 of an inside protection sleeve 7 surrounding an area 25 on the exhaust gas side of the sensor element 2 is loaded. A face 20 on the exhaust gas side of a support ceramic 3 presses the seal collar 6 to the step part 5 and seals it. The sleeve 4 is provided with a male screw top 8 in an area distant from exhaust gas by means of the step part 5, and a part with screw top 9 is screwed. The sleeve 4 is punched and molded from one thin plate member, is rounded, and is bonded along a longitudinal bonding part, for example, by means of welding or brazing. Consequently the gas sensor can be manufactured with less parts and with simple assembly.
