Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filled thermoplastic B-stage pitch preform freed from voids and cracks and having an improved bulk density by mixing a powdery filler with a mesophase pitch. SOLUTION: 6-80wt.% powdery filler 11' is mixed with 94-20wt.% mesophase pitch 12' by means of a mixer 20 to obtain a thermoplastic composition. This mixture is poured into a container 22, and the container 22 is placed in a heater 25 and heated to 300-400 deg.C in an inert atmosphere to fuse the pitch. The container is further heated to 40-500 deg.C to react the pitch to such a high extent that it can show a TMA distortion temperature of 400 deg.C or above. The obtained B-stage filled thermoplastic pitch 27 is withdrawn from the container 22 to obtain a B-stage filled thermoplastic sheet 28. Next, a powdery substance 29 obtained by grinding the sheet 28 is molded into a preform having a desired shape, and this preform is carbonated by heating to 1,000 deg.C or above to obtain a carbon/carbon composite material. |
