Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a ceria.zirconia-base multiple oxide having a small average crystallite diameter and a large specific surface area and capable of maintaining its large specific surface area even after heat treatment as well as to increase oxygen storage ability by an increased degree of solid solution. SOLUTION: Ceria.zirconia solid soln. particles having >=50% degree of solid solution of Zr to Ce in a Ce-Zr solid soln. and a molar ratio Zr/(Ce+Zr) of 0.25-0.75 are mixed with oxide particles of a multiple oxide consisting of an alkaline earth metal oxide and zirconium oxide to obtain the objective multiple oxide. Since the oxide particles are allowed to coexist, the solid soln. phase is stabilized and the reduction of specific surface area at high temp. is suppressed. |
