Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline secondary battery in which a charge/discharge cycle lifetime is prolonged and an inside short-circuit during a cycle is prevented. SOLUTION: An alkaline secondary battery comprises a positive electrode 2, a negative electrode 4, a separator 3 interposed between the positive and negative electrodes 2, 4, and an alkaline electrolyte. The negative electrode 4 contains a rare earth hydrogen storage alloy and manganese particles. The manganese particles are contained in the negative electrode 4 in 3 pts.wt. of less, with respect to 100 pts.wt. of the hydrogen storage alloy. The rare earth hydrogen storage alloy is contained in the negative electrode 4, in such a manner that manganese atoms are contained in 0-2.6 wt.%. The separator 3 is made of a polyolefin fiber sheet obtained by graft-copolymerizing a vinyl monomer, having a functional group which reacts with an acid or a base to form a salt. |
