Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a submerged arc welding method which is free from incomplete penetration in the welding of a box column corner joint and which is capable of a weld zone superior in crack resistance at high temperature. SOLUTION: In welding a Y-shaped groove having an angle of 40 deg. or less, sealing welding is performed preliminarily over the entire lines in the groove, making the ratio W/D of the groove width W (mm) on the surface of the sealing weld bead to the wire diameter D (mm) of a preceding electrode to be 0.4-1.5. In addition, the sealing welding is carried out by CO2 gas shielded arc welding using a flux cored wire or a solid wire. As a result, a sound weld zone can be obtained free from complete penetration and superior in crack resistance at high temperature, enabling a highly efficient manufacture of a box column. |
