Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the semiconductor optical coupling device which has an optical element inside and is suitable for the insertion and stable fixation of a filter halfway into an optical waveguide by forming grooves in various shapes in part of an optical element transmission line, and inserting filters in various shapes into the grooves and bonding and fixing them. SOLUTION: On an Si substrate 1, an optical transmission line 6 as an optical waveguide is formed and an LD element 2 and a PD element 3, and optical fibers 4 and 5 are optically coupled to assemble the device. The filter 7 is inserted into a groove formed in the Si substrate 6 and fixed. Grooves 8 formed halfway in the optical transmission line 6 are in a T shape, a U shape, a semicircular shape, and a triangular shape, and filters 7 are formed in a T shape, a U shape, a semicircular shape, a triangular shape, a quadrilateral shape, etc. Thus, the groove 8 and filter 7 are joined together and then the filter 7 can surely be fixed in the groove 8. Further, the filter shape is compact and the fixation into the groove 8 is easy and automated. Further, no peeling is caused at the join part in spite of long-period use. |
