Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance weatherability and light-fastness by performing ink jet recording using an aqueous ink containing one kind of aqueous dye selected from a group of aqueous dyes having a specified formula and then exposing ink dots using any one or both of a metal halide lamp and an ultraviolet fluorescent lamp in combination with a low pressure mercury lamp. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording method employs an aqueous ink containing at least one kind of aqueous dye selected from a group of aqueous dyes shown by formulas I-III (in the formula, M represents metal sodium, potassium or lithium). After performing ink jet recording using the aqueous ink, ink dots are exposed using any one or both of a metal halide lamp and an ultraviolet fluorescent lamp in combination with a low pressure mercury lamp. According to the arrangement, the aqueous ink can be rendered insoluble at a significantly high rate and the ink can be fixed in a short time even when the output is low.
