Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antimicrobial paper having a high strength as a paper, and further having high water absorptivity and antimicrobial activities, and further to provide a method for producing the antimicrobial paper. SOLUTION: This antimicrobial paper is obtained by mixing 1-98 wt.% fibrous chitin and pulp for papermaking. The fibrous chitin is preferably the one derived from gladius of squids. The antimicrobial paper can have the fibrous chitin in the state uniformly mixed with the pulp for the papermaking, or in the state unevenly and excessively distributed on one surface or both surfaces. The method for producing the antimicrobial paper comprises mixing 1-98 wt.% fibrous chitin with the pulp for the papermaking, and carrying out the papermaking of the pulp mixed with the fibrous chitin.
