Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly and correctly set the molten steel level on the experience level to that on the target level by controlling the pouring quantity of the molten steel into a mold based on the volumetric deviation of the molten steel between the target level and the experience level of the molten steel in the mold. SOLUTION: The experience level 3 of the molten steel 2 in a mold 1 is detected by a level gage 4, and the detected value is inputted into computing element 5. The values of the longer and shorter sides of the mold 1, and the target level 8 of the molten steel 2 in the mold 1 are stored in the computing element 5 in advance, and the volumetric deviation of the molten steel between the experience level and the target level 8 is calculated from the distance ΔL (mm) between the experience level 3 and the target level 8 of the molten steel 2 in the mold 1. An instruction is given to a stopper drive device 11 through a stopper drive indicator 9 based on the calculated deviation, and the opening and the opening/closing speed of a molten steel pouring port 13 of a tundish 12 are regulated to control the molten steel level in the mold 1 from the experience level 3 to the target level 8. The solidified layer of the slab can surely be generated thereby, and the downtime caused by the break-out is reduced.
