HOT SLAB CARRYING METHOD IN EDGE REDUCTION PRESSING TIME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a slab carrying quantity to reduce the edge pressing time per one slab in the case of the quantity of edge rolling reduction being small and to improve productivity by varying the slab carrying quantity in accordance with the time capable of carrying slabs in one cycle varying in accordance with the quantity of edge rolling reduction. SOLUTION: Respective driving motors M of an inlet side pinchroll 28 and an outside pinchroll 30 are controlled with a controller 44 in accordance with the slab edge detected with the slab width gage 40 provided in the inlet side of edge reduction pressing equipment 20 and the command from a host computer 42 to execute the edge reduction, and reduction is executed in the plate thickness direction with a rolling mill 50. When reviewing the relation between the quantity of edge rolling reduction and the slab carrying quantity based on the angle of rotation of the crank mechanism 26 of edge reduction pressing equipment 20, since the required reduction zone is narrow in the case other than the maximum quantity of edge rolling reduction, the carrying zone is widen that much more. Since the slab having the small quantity of edge rolling reduction also has the short time of edge reduction, the slab carrying time is allowed to increase. By this way, the number of times of pressing per one slab is reduced, whereby the changing period of a press die 24 is allowed to extend.
