Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a label sticking apparatus which is easy to use, simple in structure and can be operated with the minimum fatigue by applying braking force for preventing a composite label web from moving in a feed direction to the composite label web by a non-electric means and by canceling the braking force by an electromagnetic means. SOLUTION: A brake mechanism 118 is mechanically operated for braking and is electrically operated for canceling the braking force. The brake mechanism 118 is always validated basically except when a composite label web is to be advanced. Invalidation of the brake mechanism 118 is attained by an electromagnetic device 119 having a solenoid 124. The solenoid 124 requires relatively small electric power. A plunger 125 of the solenoid 124 is designed to move only by a predetermined distance before the brake mechanism 118 is driven so that its inertia can be used for invalidating the brake mechanism 118.
