Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a refractory free from the deterioration of its performance and capable of inhibiting its slaking reaction, by mixing a specific amount of a basic refractory raw material containing one or more kinds of MgO and CaO, coated with a silane coupling agent and dried in a specified temperature range with a carbonaceous raw material and an organic binder, kneading the mixture, molding the kneaded product and subsequently drying the molded product. SOLUTION: The basic refractory raw material includes electrically fused magnesia and sintered magnesia clinker, and the silane coupling agent is an organic functional silane monomer, which is the generic name of a compound having two kinds of functional groups, namely a compound capable of chemically reacting with both a hydrophilic inorganic substance and a hydrophobic organic substance. The method for treating the surface of the basic refractory raw material with the silane coupling agent comprises dipping or spraying the basic refractory raw material in or with a silane coupling agent solution and subsequently drying the treated basic refractory raw material at 100-200 deg.C. The treated basic refractory raw material is mixed with a carbonaceous raw material and an organic binder, kneaded, molded and subsequently dried. The basic refractory raw material is used in an amount of 70-95 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the kneaded product. |
