INTEGRATED CIRCUIT WITH STANDBY CONTROL FOR MEMORY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dynamically select a set of memory banks out of plural memory banks as a standby memory in an integrated circuit. SOLUTION: Plural power control switches 38 to 42 are used to dynamically select which of plural external power signals is fed into each of memory blocks 26 to 34. Power control switches 38 to 42 are constituted of software by writing data in a register 24 and enabled by a test control circuit 2 or automatically enabled in accordance with a VDD power fault. Further, an intelligent controller dynamically controls switches in accordance with an execution flow of data access and instruction fetch from memory banks, so that only a memory bank accessed at present or a memory accessed last is activated at a high power level and all other memory banks are set in the low-power standby mode.
