PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable keeping of minimum pumping function in the case mable to pump caused by failure of a controlling circuit or a triac switch in a pumping device which uses the triac switch for driving a pump motor by arranging a connection means to the external portion in parallel with a driving means of the pump motor. SOLUTION: Trigger signals are output from a microcomputer 11e to a triac switch 11d for a motor and a traic switch for a starting condenser. Current is carried to an underwater motor 13d and the starting condenser when the triac switches are set ON for rotating the underwater motor 13d. After specified time having passed from the starting time of motor driving, output of the trigger signals is stopped for stopping current carrying to the starting condenser. When failure to pumping occurs, for instance, a connector housing having the wiring for short-circuitting the terminals of connectors is inserted into a bypass connecting connector 11c arranged on a position corresponding to a terminal of each triac switch, for enabling manual driving of the underwater motor 13d.
