Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To introduce widely ranging stress to a material with ease. SOLUTION: A plurality of gaps 20, each of which is specified by a deflection roller 17 and a static curved face 16, are arranged for leveling a web of paper 3. A winding angle on the curved face 16 is deflected, and for passing the web 3 through a device 1 without bending the web 3, the deflection roller 17 can be operated by means of a positioning device 30 so as to be moved to the deflection position. In this way, high speed operation can be accomplished with a reliable function and simple structure.
