VIDEO SIGNAL REPRODUCING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of noise in a liquid crystal display image at the time of special reproduction by applying a switching phase, which is synchronized with a head switch phase and stabilized, for the inhibition/ permission of data update on an LCD part. SOLUTION: At a hold signal generation circuit 18, the output signal of head switch signal generation circuit 14 is multiplied almost three times and applied to a liquid crystal display circuit 21, and an envelope detection signal is sampled (by an A/D converting circuit 19) at the timing of its leading edge and trailing edge. A capstan servo processing circuit 17 processes the difference of sample values at these two points as the error signal of tape running phase and controls the running phase of tape. Thus, a timing generation circuit required for tracking at the time of special reproduction can simultaneously generate the switching signal for the inhibition/permission in the update of data onto the circuit 21. Thus, the generation of noise in the image caused by track jump at the time of special reproduction can be prevented while suppressing the increase of cost and circuit scale.
