PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To put an image forming device back in a state when power supply was stopped by saving data regarding image formation in a backup memory when the electric power supply to the device is automatically stopped. SOLUTION: When some key on a console panel 40 is operated during copying operation or is depressed by a user, a timer 303 is reset. When this timer 303 ends, an auto shutoff function is operated to send a specific control signal to a power unit 305, thereby stopping supplying electric power to the device. At this time, the data regarding image formation, i.e., a copy quantity set with a ten-key 42, copy magnification set through a liquid crystal display panel 41, image formation conditions such as form size, and image data of a document read by an image reader part 100 when they are stored are saved in the 2nd backup memory.
