Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable screen reproduction of a contone image having improved reproducing characteristics which are called as gradation characteristics for highlight and shadow tone by making at least two radiation beams to collide against one microdot. SOLUTION: The DATA pattern 21 is sent through a modulator driver 19 to an acoustooptic modulator 13. Carrier waves which produce sound waves in the modulator 13 are modified by the bit pattern. When all data bits 21 are converted into acoustic energy, a narrow light pulse is produced from a laser diode 11 by the SYNC pule 22. With this light pulse, the acoustic field is focused on a photosensitive material 17 to form the permanent record of the data pattern. By moving the focusing element 17, a new bit pattern is recorded. At one time during exposure, at least two radiation beams are made to collide against one microdot.
