Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an additive for paper making enabling the improvement of filterability and yield, and the enhancement of the durability of paper produced by using it in a paper making process. SOLUTION: This additive for making paper is composed of (A) a cationic polymer having amidine units which are obtained by the hydrolysis of a polymer having N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide or N-isopropenylcarboxylic acid amide units, and acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile units, and by the successive amidination of the hydrolysate, and (B) a cationic polymer having vinylamine units or isopropenylamine units which are obtained by the hydrolysis of a polymer having N-vinylcarboxylic amide units or N-isopropenylcarboxylic acid amide units, at a ratio of (A):(B)=(10:90) to (90:10) by weight.
