Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain filter media having the excellent persistence of an antimicrobial function by coupling carrier groups having antimicrobial agents on surfaces to each other apart the spacings made to remain between the each other's adjacent carriers. SOLUTION: Frit and powder of inorg. substances, such as glass, ceramics, metals and ores, sized about 0.1 to 20m in diameter are used as the carriers 10 for carrying the antimicrobial agents 16. The carriers 10 may also be small balls of org. substances, such as plastics. The carrier 10 groups having the antimicrobial agents 16 on the surfaces are so coupled to each other that the spacings 12 remain between the adjacent carriers 10. Binders 14 of high- molecular polymer adhesives are adopted as coupling means. The antimicrobial agents 16 are adhered to the carrier 10 groups by the binders 14 in such a manner, by which the antimicrobial agents 16 are easily adhered to the carrier 10 groups. In the case of the mixture formed by mixing the antimicrobial agents 16 and the glassy powder, the easy dislodgment thereof is prevented by sintering the glassy powder contg. the antimicrobial agents 16 to the carriers 10. The activity of the antimicrobial agents 16 is thus maintained for a long period.
