Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of preventing damage such as contraction or deformation from being caused on recording material by a heating element in a non-fixing period, effectively supplying heat to the recording material in a fixing period, and obtaining a stable fixing quality. SOLUTION: This fixing device is provided with a heating device 3 heating the back surface of the recording material 2 holding a toner image on its surface, a heating roller 4 and a pressure roller 5 interposing and carrying the material 2 fed from the device 3 while imparting heating and pressuring action to the material 2. In such a case, the fixing device is provided with a 1st supporting member 15 supporting the device 3 and the roller 5 so as to advance to/retreat from the surface of the material 2 and a 2nd supporting member 19 supporting the device 3 so as to advance to/retreat from the member 15.
