Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Rankine cycle engine obtaining sufficiently high cooling efficiency, in cooling of a gas state medium. SOLUTION: In a Rankine cycle engine provided with a cylinder 10 having a heating chamber 12 in the upward, a cooling chamber 14 in the downward thereof to close an upper end, and an operating medium existing as a gas state medium 20a in the upward of the cylinder 10 as a liquid state medium 20b in the downward to periodically vertically move the liquid state medium 20b under the cylinder 10, a cooling chamber 14 of the cylinder 10 holds a heat regenerative material 16 cooled into contact with the liquid state medium 20b to hold its heat to be into contact with the gas state medium 20a to change it to the liquid state medium 20b.
