ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new antimicrobial composition capable of sustaining antimicrobial effects for a long period and excellent in dispersibility in a polymer by using a first amorphous antimicrobial agent containing a metal having germicidal actions and a second crystalline antimicrobial agent in combination. SOLUTION: This antimicrobial composition is prepared by combining a first antimicrobial agent having a film of an aluminosilicate containing at least one ion of a metal selected from the group consisting of silver, copper and zinc with a second antimicrobial agent consisting essentially of a crystalline silicon dioxide containing at least one ion selected from the group consisting of the silver, copper and zinc on the surface of a porous silica gel. The metallic ion is preferably contained in the following amounts: 0.2-6wt.% silver ion when used in the first and the second antimicrobial agents, 2-10wt.% at least one metallic ion of copper and zinc when used therein and
